On 18 December 2023, SOLO's partner, the University of Trento held a seminar focused on the third specific objective of the Soil Mission “No net soil sealing and increase the reuse of urban soils”, conducted within the scope of the project's "Soil Week" events. The event titled "Planning strategies and nature-based solutions to reduce soil sealing" was attended by 38 people - 22 in person and 16 online, from various fields such as students, academics, public administrations, researchers and consultants.
The seminar featured contributions by five invited speakers: Dr Silvia Ronchi (Polytechnic University of Milan - Italy), Dr Silvia Tobias (Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research WSL - Switzerland), Arch. Stefano Bazzocchi (Comune di Forli – Italy), Dr. Gundula Prokop (Umweltbundesamt - Austria), Dr. Sabine Rabl-Berger (Umweltbundesamt - Austria) and Prof. Enzo Falco (University of Trento – Italy). Speakers and participants were international, but the case studies presented and discussed were mostly from the region of Trento and neighbouring regions in Italy, Austria, and Switzerland.
The discussion during the event focused on best practices and their application in case studies and identified the best possible solutions to the participants.
