Soil Week: Workshop in Helsinki discusses soil health, ecosystem restoration and forest soil health

04 Jun 2024

On 7 May 2024, SOLO's partner Luke Finland conducted a workshop in Helsinki on the topics of soil health, ecosystem restoration, and forest soil health, in the scope of the project's Soil Weeks. The event was jointly organised by SOLO, Biodiversa project MiDiPEAT and the Horizon 2020 project SOILGUARD.

The event was attended by 25 participants from the Ministries of Agriculture and Forestry and the Ministry of Environment, Mission board members, members of several NGOs, companies, and scientists. The participants represented various stakeholders, from private land owners to private and civil society sectors, high-level administration, and decision-makers in the Ministries of Environment and Agriculture and Forestry. People were divided into 3 groups circulating between the three tables (soil health, ecosystem restoration, forest soil health) so that all the participants commented on the group tasks.

The event included productive discussions on the knowledge gaps and bottlenecks of the Soil Mission objectives, as well as other soil health issues on a regional level.
